Between you and me, I’ve noticed a want for creative skills in Teaching and Education. Teachers and Recreation Leaders in After School Programs want to teach art, know art and bring more arts into their programs. The problem these educators are facing though is their inner and external barriers.
Their inner barriers tell them that they're not good enough to teach art. They don't have skills, and the best "I" can do is to find something on Pinterest. The external barriers have to do with the decrease in arts funding, support, and general district support to not just care about the Arts, but to honor it as a key component for learning. Just as much as STEM.
Yes! School Districts love the arts, but that love fades as soon as a hole start to form in their pockets. Most often, the arts are still first to go.
So I want to know from you. How can we turn this around?
