I'm curious about this too, because I was having the same thought. Still figuring out this site as I just joined yesterday!

Downvoting a post can decrease pending rewards and make it less visible. Common reasons:

  • Disagreement on rewards
  • Fraud or plagiarism
  • Hate speech or trolling
  • Miscategorized content or spam

    Someone in chat told me, that no, as long as SBD are above 1$ it is better to have split reward 50:50. He did say to ask second opinion, just to e on a safe side. Well by the time STEEM gets over SBD we should see some guide somewhere ;-)
