My Principle of Assholism

Every group of people has their 'good' ones and 'bad' ones. For example, I differentiate between 'country boys' and 'rednecks.' Country boys say things like "Yes ma'am," and "Yes sir." They are polite and kind. Rednecks, on the other hand, are rude, belligerent, and constantly want to fight for no good reason. I went to high school with a bunch of rednecks. You will have to ask Chris Rock regarding his take on this, but the point is that no group is exempt from #assholism.

I am convinced that were it not for #assholism, there would be no such thing as racism, for instance. In other words, if everyone simply acted polite, courteous, and fair, then so many of our societal problems would subside. Perhaps they will not vanish entirely, but they will abate substantially.

Look at all of the books that have been written by people about 'Leaving the Left.' There are a bunch of them, and not so many about moving right to left. This is because when people start thinking, let go of the hate and resentment, and explore other points of view with an open mind, then this happens. Also, it takes a big man to admit....sorry Canadians, it takes a big man person to admit when he them is wrong. The Canucks understand these pronouns, folks. Anyway, the problem is that most liberals just are not that big, or open minded enough to allow their world view to be challenged. I honestly think it is because they lack conviction, and prefer to cling to their political religion like Michael Moore on a Twinkie.

Years back, on his radio show, Dennis Miller discussed how when he was on the left he was accused of being a shill for the liberals, and then later, once he moved to the right (there is another example), he was accused of being a shill for the conservatives. His point was to say that he had been on both sides, received ridicule from both sides, and he concluded that left wingers are far more "angry" than right wingers.

If you see cases of #assholism then please call it out. If we cannot appeal to their humanity because they are too 'lost,' then perhaps we can attempt to shame them into some rudimentary form of civility. I know, many of them have no shame, but it is better than sinking to their level.
