Earth had a near miss with a large asteroid

An asteroid 4.4 km in size passed by within seven million km of Earth.

The Asteroid Florence named in honor of Florence
Nightingale (father of modern nursing) is the largest asteroid to pass by this close to our planet since NASA began to detect and track near-Earth asteroids.

It was closest to Earth at 5.35 PM on Friday.

Florence was discovered by renowned astronomer Schelte ’Bobby' Bus.
