Mercury moved into Aries early, early this morning -- at 12:34 AM (Mountain Time). This brings a change to the intellectual attitudes of life ... and the mindset you will have -- and the ones you'll meet -- for the next couple of months. As with all sign changes, the move from dreamy, reflective Pisces to assertive, self-confident Aries can be dramatic.
It does happen gradually, with two or three days of transition on either side of the line, but the change itself can be both fun and surprising ... as a new personality emerges in your intellectual world -- and starts to have a say about the way you think, what you believe ... and how you present yourself and your ideas.

In Astrology, each planet in your Natal Chart represents a particular kind of energy -- and the parts of your character that commonly use that energy. Each is like an Inner Self ... a member of your Inner Family.
Together they comprise the complex and multi-dimensional being that is you! To look at yourself and your Natal Chart information from this perspective gives a fascinating view of who you are ... and why you are the way you are.
In Astrology, Mercury -- and the energy it represents -- gives information about many things, most of which are associated with your Intellectual Self ... your conscious mind, your ability to analyze and reason, your ability to use logic, solve problems and think for yourself. As I said, that's only one of many functions ... but that's enough for now. I'll talk about more soon. In fact, I'll talk about them often!
As a take-away point and sound bite simply remember this: Mercury in Astrology represents your intellectual self, your conscious mind ... and all the miraculous skills that Inner Self provides for you. I'll fill in a myriad of details in future posts.

Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac -- the sign of initiation, new beginnings and raw physical energy. It is the first of twelve distinct steps in the creative process of life -- each step represented by one of the Zodiac signs, in a predictable sequence from commencement and new growth cycles that begin in Aries through the dissolution, solitude and search for meaning that are so fundamental to Pisces.
Aries is brash and energetic, passionate and self-confident. It is pioneering energy at its finest ... and knows that just showing up and making those all important first moves will carry you a long way toward your eventual goal.

When these two energies combine -- one emphatically intellectual and able to communicate, the other bold and candid -- even to a fault, you get an energy that speaks its mind and lets the chips fall where they may. This energy doesn't back down from conflict and may even welcome a good scrap. You will certainly get a good dose of Truth and Reality ... as other people see them -- so be ready to offer your own. A good debate can really stir things up -- and clear the air. Try it. You'll see.
When Mercury is in Aries, ideas are assertive and enthusiastic. Thinking shows independence, initiative, and pioneering spirit. All by itself, this energy encourages bold, candid opinions. Compared to the creative dreaminess of Pisces -- which we just finished -- and the laid-back planning of Taurus -- which happens next, this intellectual climate is lively and confident.
There is emphasis on winning. People feel strongly about their ideas ... and vigorously push their opinions, whether they're welcome or not. It can be a time of loud rhetoric and competition -- with less emphasis on "persuading" followers than on shouting down dissent.

There is a big difference between "getting people to see things your way" and getting them to just shut up!!! But that fine point gets lost when Mercury in Aries gets excited. People may call this "communicating," which it is, technically, ... but they really just want to get their views some air-time. Speech and writing may be blunt, self-assured, contentious -- and inflammatory.
Under stress with Mercury in Aries, attitudes are impatient, defiant, and arrogant. Other people's ideas are met with contempt and irritability, and the intellectual climate is overbearing, self-willed and uncooperative. Mercury in Aries stressed is the hallmark of the loud-mouthed know-it-all. You may meet some of those in the next few weeks, too. (Or more than usual. Oh, joy!!)

Meanwhile, if you've never seen your horoscope ... and don't have a clue how to work with it, maybe it's time to find out. There are lots of "chart services" on the internet -- some of whom produce decent, readable charts "for free" and some are so awful and confusing that even I can't read them easily -- and I've worked with charts for decades.
One extremely user-friendly chart site is here: AstroLabe. I recommend them if you want a simple, easy-to-read chart. I think they even give a reasonable little interpretive reading of your horoscope as part of the package. You'll need to know your birth information -- day, month, year, time and geographical place. Without all that your chart will have limited accuracy.

I love how you used all the images that are in red and that bird reminds me a bit of my mother, who is Aries herself. You described her nicely in our post :)
The thing that is "her thing" and I think "the Aries" thing is that she is right even when she is wrong and even if that means going head first through a wall :D
