The sights of Kharkiv and Kharkiv region

Kharkiv oblast is known in Ukraine as a powerful industrial center. Its regional center, the city of Kharkiv is a major scientific and educational center of the country: there are 45 universities, 142 research Institute, 80 libraries and 16 museums.

The city was founded in 1630. In the documents of 1788 it is said that Kharkiv is named for the river which it is located.

Speaking about the sights of Kharkov, it is impossible not to recall the Annunciation Bazaar, now called the Central market. He was one of the largest in Eastern Ukraine. By a strange coincidence of circumstances, during the Second world war Kharkiv though, and was destroyed much more than many other Ukrainian cities, but more of other remains of buildings in the constructivist style. Perfectly preserved and Pokrovsky Cathedral, built in Baroque style in 1689 and built in the same style in 1777 the Governor's Palace. 

Kharkov is rich not only in monuments, but humorous sculptures. Here there is a monument to the cat Behemoth, Ostap Bender, Professor Preobrazhensky and Sharik, and many others.

Attractions in Kharkiv region seem to be endless. Here you can find everything your heart desires – from the religious buildings and natural wonders, museums and monuments to outstanding personalities. Why should only the Palace of könig! Its construction began in 1836, and after graduating was recognized as one of the most beautiful palaces with a Park in Slobozhanschyna.
