DiggnDeeper into Open Source Software: Mumble's first major update in 10 years.

in audio •  5 years ago

"Mumble is a free, open source, low latency, high quality voice chat application."

Check out the release for complete details: Mumble 1.3.0 Release Announcement

We used to use Mumble for everything back in the day.

Back before Discord seemingly took over the world, Mumble was the champion of voice and chat. Just like Discord, it was developed for gaming, but used for all sorts of other things.

They may be similar in function, but as is pretty much always the case with open source, the control is with you.

I don't know if it will ever be as popular as it once was, but I do wish it had at least some of the "market share" it once had. I guess we shall see.

Hello dear friend @diggndeeper.com.

The open source release is a big step. Speed and low latency should not be compromised.
I see that the interface improved and the installation and configuration process was simplified.
Hopefully they have a massive acceptance in the public.

Thanks for sharing.

All best, Piotr.
