Shweta Tripathi | Entrepreneur

Australia has been a lucky country for Shweta Tripathi, who made it her home in March 2007. “I remember being overwhelmed by the natural beauty and the smiling faces of its inhabitants,” she recalls of the time she set foot in the country. Swept away by the welcoming inclusiveness of Australia, Shweta feels she is fortunate to be living in one of the most livable countries in the world.

Australia provided Shweta with an opportunity to pursue a lifelong ambition of being an entrepreneur. “In the last decade, we have experienced a wave of Indians arriving and settling in Australia. This puts us in a fortunate position to assist in bridging the gap between the two cultures, communities and countries; while identifying and filling the newfound gaps in this fluid economy. Our roles as Indian-Australian entrepreneurs is unique and fulfilling.”

While she started her career at Optus in a sales role, Shweta brought with her a wealth of experience from India. “I started working within the offshoring industry in India right at the onset of it, with GE Capital International Services. It was an exciting time, and I experienced phenomenal growth” she says, adding that her last job in India was that of a Department Manager for the Learning and Development team of a BPO firm with 11,000 staff.

But the single most important moment in her career, says Shweta, was the day she launched Finn Business Sales in South Australia. “What an exhilaratingly nervous, yet exciting time that day and year was. We hoped for the best outcomes and prepared for the worst challenges. Overall, we had a year full of multiple wins and even more learnings.”
