By the end of the week, more than 4,000 trade visitors would have visited the International Sourcing Expo Australia 9th edition at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre.
“Australia’s geographic location means extensive travel is usually required to explore international supply and manufacturing options. International Sourcing Expo Australia and the co-located Footwear & Leather Show Australia brings the world close to home for our local industry,” said Julie Holt, Exhibition Director, IEC Group Pty Ltd. More than 700 textile, apparel and footwear manufacturers and agents from 18 countries such as India, China, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Fiji, Indonesia, Vietnam, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, Australia, United States, South Korea, Serbia, Italy, Malaysia and Singapore are exhibiting at the 16,500 sqm space.
“Indian participation has grown year-on-year and is always well-received. The large contingent returning to Australia for the 2018 events confirms the opportunity in the market,” she said.
Mr Mukhtharul Amin, Chairman, Council for Leather Exports, India, said that India is a strong and established player in global leather trade and he sees potential to enhance bilateral trade in Footwear & Leather Products with Australia. “With ongoing negotiations for a Free Trade Agreement, bilateral trade between India and Australia is bound to grow,” he said.
The show is co-located with the Footwear and Leather Show 3rd edition and China Clothing Accessories Textiles Expo 18th edition, making this Australia’s premier international sourcing show for apparel, textiles, footwear and leather products.
The three-day trade only event opened at Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on 20 November and is restricted to bona fide trade professionals.
Attracting sourcing managers for Australia’s large fashion retailers, niche fashion brands, online outlets and designers, the show allows buyers to meet with many reputable suppliers—more than they could physically visit on an overseas buying trip.
