Celebration of colours and a real showcase of community strengthening


Wyndham Holi in its fifth year became one of the largest diverse community celebrations. It was held on Saturday, 23 March at Presidents Park, Wyndham Vale, and attracted large crowds with audiences from all ages and backgrounds, especially families and kids to celebrate the festival of colours.

Organised by Victorian Cultural Association (VCA) it has special dignitaries which includes Hon. Gabrielle Williams MP—Minister for Prevention of Family Violence, Minister for Women, Minister for Youth, Hon. Jill Hennessy MP—Victorian Attorney General and Minister for Workplace Safety, Hon. Joanne Ryan MP Federal Member for Lalor, Hon. Tim Watts MP Federal Labor Member for Gellibrand, Hon. Ingrid Stitt MP Member for Western Metropolitan Region, Hon. Sarah Connolly MP Member for Tarneit, Hon Daniel Mulino, Labor candidate for Fraser, Wyndham councillors Cr. Henry Barlow & Cr Intaj Khan, Mr. Rakesh Malhotra, Consul General of India in Melbourne and Sukhjit Kaur Khalsa (VMC Youth Commissioner).

Major attractions included colour play, fireworks, kids ride, dhol play, super heroes and many more. ISKCON Temple members engaged with the local communities and had a rath yatra.

This year, the theme was women’s empowerment, and five women were awarded in appreciation of their contribution to communities.

Neha Kolape, President of Wyndham Holi, mentioned that they are a not-for-profit organisation and shall continue to work collectively to provide multi-cultural community events like Wyndham Holi to spread the message of peace and harmony. “It’s the celebration through the vibrant colours showcasing an exquisite picture of multi-cultural Australia. Thanks to all supporters which includes sponsors, community groups, State Government, Victorian Multicultural Commission and our local Wyndham City Council,” she said.
