Australia is a country and continent surrounded by the Indian and Pacific oceans. Its main cities, Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Adelaide, are built on the coast. The capital, Canberra, is located inland. The country is known for the Sydney Opera House, coral of the Great Barrier, large and wild stretches of desert called the Outback, and unique animals like the kangaroo and the platypus.
