Norbert Hofer, far-right Freedom Party
Norbert Hofer, from the far-right Freedom Party, was narrowly beaten in May by the independent candidate Alexander van der Bellen, but the election was recalled after a court found discrepancies in the counting of votes.
Wolfgang Bachmayer, head of research group OGM believes that far-right Norbert Hofer will come first on the day due to "the ongoing and intensifying refugee discussions".

Historically EU-sceptics, Norbert Hofer's Freedom Party generally support the idea that Austria should get to vote on its membership.
