«توماس إديسون».. لص الاختراعات!
يُعرف «توماس إديسون» بأنه مخترع عظيم، غيّر مسار البشرية بفضل اختراعاته النيرة، كما أنه رابع أكثر المخترعين إنتاجًا في التاريخ، إذ يمتلك 1093 براءة اختراع أمريكية تحمل اسمه. ويعدّ صاحب الفضل في العديد من الاختراعات التي ساهمت في وسائل الاتصال الجماهيري وفي مجال الاتصالات تحديدًا، والتي أشهرها: المصباح الكهربائي وجهاز عرض الأفلام وأشعة X والفونوجراف، ومسجل الصوت الكهربائي، ومغناطيس فاصل الحديد الخام، وغيرها من الاختراعات التي سُجلت في التاريخ باسم إديسون، المخترع الفذ.لكن الحقيقة، أن توماس إديسون لم يكن صاحب كل هذه الاختراعات التي سجلها باسمه، بل كان يدير مختبرًا للاختراعات، يعمل فيه فريق من الباحثين، الذين استغل إديسون أفكارهم وقام بتسجيلها باسمه. وعلى رأسهم «وليام ديكسون» الذي قام باختراع «الكينتوسكوب» (Kinetoscope) أو ما يعرف بجهاز عرض الأفلام، وقام إديسون بتسجيل الاختراع باسمه، ونال عنه وسام ألبرت للجمعية الملكية من فنون بريطانيا العظمى، كما حصل عن هذا الاختراع على الميدالية الذهبية من الكونجرس عام 1928.
ولم يكتفِ «إديسون» بسرقة اختراعات فريق عمله وتسجيلها باسمه، بل قام بسرقة اختراعات شهيرة من آخرين خارج فريق العمل الخاص به. فمثلًا: أول محاولة لصنع المصباح الكهربائي كانت عام 1802، عندما تمكَّن الكيميائي البريطاني «هامفري ديفي» من صُنع الـ«Safety lamp» بعد نجاحه في الحصول على ضوءٍ قصير الأجل عن طريق تمرير تيار كهربائي من خلال خيط رفيع من البلاتينيوم، ولكن ذلك المصباح لم يكن مضيئًا بشكل كافِ، بالإضافة إلى أنه لم يكن يعمل لفترة طويلة، وذو تكلفة اقتصادية عالية؛ مما تسبب في عدم انتشار هذا المصباح بين العامة. ثم تلى ذلك عدة محاولات لم ينجح مبتكروها في تسويقها جماهيريا، حتى جاء إديسون وقام بتسجيل براءة الاختراع، ونسب الفضل لنفسه، وصار مخترع المصباح الكهربائي.وبالرغم من أن أشعة X تعرف باسم أشعة رنتجن، في إشارة إلى عالم الفيزياء الألماني «ويليام رنتجن»، والذي اكتشفها عن طريق الصدفة عام 1895، إلا أن أديسون هو من قام بتطوير هذه الفكرة وعرضها على الجمهور في معرض الرابطة الوطنية للضوء الكهربائي في نيويورك، وسجل هذا الاختراع باسمه، لكنه عاد وتخلى لاحقًا عن براءة الاختراع هذه عام 1903، بعدما فقد بصره بسبب هذه الأشعة.
وفي عام 1888، بعدما اخترع «هارولد براون» كرسي الإعدام بالكهرباء، قام إديسون الذي كان من مؤيدي التيار المستمر، بتوظيفه من أجل إثبات أن التيار المتردد له آثار مميتة. وبعد عدة تجارب أجراها براون على الحيوانات في مختبر إديسون وبتمويل منه للتأكد من أفضلية التيار المستمر على المتردد ، قام إديسون بتسجيل براءة اختراع الكرسي الكهربائي لنفسه.
«هنري فورد» نازي.. يستقدم العمالة الجبرية من معسكرات الاعتقال!
يعدّ «هنري فورد»، مؤسس شركة فورد للسيارات وراعي تطوير تقنية نظام التجميع للإنتاج المتسلسل، واحدًا من أبرز الاقتصاديين الأمريكيين، وينسب إليه المساعدة في بناء اقتصاد أمريكا في سنوات ضعفها. وفورد هو صاحب الأثر الأكبر في تطوير صناعة السيارات في العالم، إذ يرجع إليه الفضل في أنّ السيارات لم تعد حكرًا على الأغنياء، وصارت فى متناول العمال والطبقة المتوسطة، محدثًا بذلك ثورة صناعية في الولايات المتحدة.
لكن خلف هذه الهالة اللامعة، كان يقبع وجه قبيح، حاول فورد مداراته خلال سنوات طويلة بإنكاره، فرجل الأعمال البارع، يعود إليه الفضل في زيادة قدرة القوات الألمانية، ونمو اقتصاد ألمانيا في فترة ما قبل الحرب، وخلال فترة الحرب العالمية الثانية قامت مصانع فورد بتمويل كلٍ من الحلفاء وألمانيا النازية، كما أنتجت مصانع فورد في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية الكثير من الدبابات و السيارات لصالح الحلفاء.
كما أنه كان شديد الولع والإعجاب بالزعيم النازي أدولف هتلر ومبادئه، وكان يقدم الدعم المالي للحزب النازي، الذي – بحسب قوله – كان يحارب ديكتاتورية اليهود. وللتعبير عن امتنانه لما قدمته مؤسسة فورد والشركات التابعة لها من دعم مالي وشاحنات، قام هتلر بتعليق صورة فورد على حائط مقر مكتبه في ميونيخ، وكان يقول عنه صديقي الملهم، كما منحه وسام النسر الألماني (الوسام الأعلى للرايخ، الممنوح لغير الألمان)، وكتب عنه بإعجاب في كتابه «كفاحي».
ولم يكن فورد يخفي كرهه الشديد لليهود، وأعلن عن ذلك صراحة عبر كتابه «اليهودية الدولية: المشكلة الأولى في العالم». وعندما انتشرت الإضرابات العمالية والمطالب النقابية من قِبل ذوي الياقات الزرقاء الأوروبيين المسيّسين خلال الحرب العالمية الثانية، سأل فورد عن بلد لا تستهوي عمالَه الإضرابات ويعزفون عن الانخراط في العمل النقابي، فأشير له باليمن؛ مما دفع فورد لإرسال سفينة إلى ميناء عدن، عادت وعلى متنها ألفا يمني للعمل في مصانعه، دون أن يشغل نفسه بحقوقهم ومطالبهم. كما لم يتورع فورد عن استخدام الأسرى المعتقلين في معسكر أوشفيتز للعمل الجبري في مصنع فورد في ألمانيا، بعد أن أمده الحزب النازي بهم. وقد اعترفت مؤسسة فورد مؤخرًا بذلك، بعد إطلاق وثائق تؤكد تورط فورد وشركات عالمية أخرى في استخدام الرقيق والمعتقلين من معسكرات الاعتقال النازي في العمل القسري في مصانعها.
«أرثر ميلر» تخلى عن ابنه المصاب بمتلازمة داون ولم يزره على الإطلاق!
الروائي والكاتب المسرحي الشهير، والذي يُعد رمزًا من رموز الأدب والسينما الأمريكية، وأحد عمالقة المسرح الأمريكي المعاصر، ومن كبار المدافعين عن الحرية الفكرية، المندد بكل أشكال القمع، تخلّى عن ابنه المصاب بمتلازمة داون بعد ولادته مباشرة، ولم يأتِ على ذكره أبدًا، ولم يزره طيلة حياته ولو لمرة واحدة.
تزوج «ميلر» ثلاث مرات، وكانت النجمة مارلين مونرو زوجته الثانية. أنجب من زوجته الأولى طفلين، ومن زوجته الثالثة طفلين، لكن ميلر لم يعترف إلا بثلاثة أبناء فقط، ولم يأتِ على ذكر ابنه الأخير «دانيال» الذي وُلِد مصابا بمتلازمة داون، إطلاقًا، ولم يشر إلى وجوده حتى في مذكراته.
بعد مولد «دانيال» بأسبوع واحد في عام 1966، قام أرثر ميلر بإيداعه إحدى المصحات العلاجية الخاصة بالمعاقين ذهنيًا. وطوال 40 عامًا كانت «إنجي موراث» الزوجة الثالثة لميلر، وأم دانيال، تقوم بزيارة ابنها يوميًا، في حين أن الكاتب الكبير، لم يكلف نفسه عناء رؤية ابنه مطلقًا أو حتى الإشارة إليه.
لاحقًا، وبالتحديد في عام 1995، قام الممثل العالمي «دانيال دي لويس» صهر أرثر ميلر، بالضغط عليه من أجل مقابلة ابنه، وذلك بعد تأثر دانيال دي لويس بالفنان الأيرلندي «كريستي براون» الذي ولد مصابًا بشلل دماغي، والذي أدى دي لويس دوره في الفيلم الشهير «قدمي اليسرى My Left Foot».«ميلر» اعترف لأحد أصدقائه أنه هو من أصر على التخلي عن الطفل، في الوقت الذي أرادت «إنجي» الاحتفاظ به، لكنه كره أن تكبر ابنته ريبيكا مع «منغولي» على حد قوله. وتجدر الإشارة إلى أنه وقبل وفاة الكاتب المسرحي الشهير بستة أسابيع، أوصى لدانيال بنصيب مساوٍ لإخوته في الميراث.
