8 September 1989, ageing Partnair Convair CV-580, flying from Oslo to Hamburg, suddenly lost control and fell into the North Sea.

The investigation revealed that the cause was the installation of three unapproved bolts holding the aircraft's vertical stabilizer, which in a combination of several other circumstances caused the tailplane to break away.
