Sometimes the area around Mexican airports can be a little sketchy, but at Toluca the airport authority have created an official area to watch and photograph the planes at this busy airport, from an area that was already being unofficially used.
What was a dirt pull-off between trees, now has a lay-by and even seats to sit on.
Now the area is much busier, and with that much safer. Families come and watch on the way back from school or at the weekends.
The smallest kid in this photo asked her mother if she could get a photo with these strange people from another country, and we of course obliged. I gave them some stickers and got a shot for myself too.
Now there's also an "ice cream car" and a chicharron cart that comes by at the weekend.
Brilliant!
Just goes to show what a little foresight by an airport can achieve.
