Kurume Azalea - turning Japanese

in azaleas •  6 years ago  (edited)

The Kurume Azalea (called "tsutsuji" in Japanese) Festival is a yearly flower-viewing custom where azaleas come out in full bloom every spring. The whole venue is filled with azaleas, potted plants, fruit trees, and bonsais which are also sold and displayed in sample gardens. The plants which are displayed and are for sale are replaced daily, so a lot of visitors both within and from outside Kyushu come not only once, but twice or more. Short lessons on plant care and bonsai care, charity auctions, and more are also hold during weekends.
