For my friends with 1st graders /// Is it normal for your 1st grader to have 1.5 - 2 hours of homework EVERY NIGHT? Mind you this is a 6 day per week school schedule and in Hebrew. Also, are any of your 1st graders in Geometry? Beginning Geometry is one of my 7 year old's subjects. Crazy Crazy. My wife tutors Ayanna in her homework every night. My wife is really becoming a pro in Hebrew. I personally don't remember EVER having homework in the 1st grade. . / The picture is of Ayanna doing her homework. Took the pic about 30 seconds ago. Ah, Friday night homework. She is pictured doing her Geometry. CRAZY CRAZY. I had Geometry in the 10th grade. Waaaa!

Wow...I can just imagine geometry in Hebrew, isn't she too young for that though or probably its just the very basic. Wishing her all the best in her studies :)

Hi as you know I am a teacher and sad to say they do get homework these days but hers sound a bit much. I really wish that they don't have to get so much homework, all of the best I am glad your wife can help her.

My cousin who is a 2nd grader spends 0 hours studying and rarely has any homework (about one 10-item worksheet every 2-3 months). She studies at a Montessori school and has 5 days of classes a week. Her school hours are 9 am to 3 pm and she doesn't bring any books nor does she wear a uniform. Her syllabus does enumerate Basic Geometry as one of her subjects but from what we've observed she spends more than half the time playing with her classmates. This is because Montessori method believes that hands-on activity yields better results.
