Did you ever try fermented goat's milk? When I was in Mörön we visited a local nomad family with our guide and watched as they sort of swished around the goat's milk in a huge animal hide, apparently they had to do this a few thousand times each day.
When our guide asked the father of the household how much he drank (it's something like 2-3% alcohol I believe) he laughed and said in Mongolian, "as much as I can, every day, all day!" It's pretty sour and I'd much prefer a cold beer, but definitely worth trying.
