I started folding at home, which is a way to 'mine' banano. Technically this isn't really mining. Rather, it's more accurately closer to a faucet. And you are being compensated for lending your GPU power to fold or unfold proteins that scientists use to research into diseases.
I started on 11th May and as of today, I've earned around $50 or $25 a month folding almost 24/7. I usually let the GPU have a break for a couple of hours when I do my jogging but it's on most of the time.
This is after the price of banano has come crashing down some 80% from the highs but i'm still folding away. If the price had stayed as it was when I first started, this would be in the $150 - $200 range or $75 - $100 a month. Not too bad. Definitely more than pays the additional electricity charges.
It also doesn't fully utilize the GPU so it's not like the laptop is frozen or anything. All in all, getting paid to help fight diseases is a good use for crypto. I hope it gets adopted more.
