MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The computer glitch this week at the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) that left thousands with either negative or blown up accounts will definitely have an adverse effect on the bank’s operations and customer base.
The internal system error caused the bank’s ATM machines and online banking to go offline for days.
In an effort to lessen the negative impact of the glitch on its banking business, the BPI board of directors today announced that it has launched a new banking service that it expects to be glitch-free and safe from systems errors or even hacking.
The new service is called “BPIoffline.”
