Jamie Whincup will start on pole for this afternoons Bathurst 1000 with Kiwi Scott McLaughlin right behind him in what promises to be a mouth watering 1000 kilometer race today. Scotty McLaughlin is in a great spot at the beginning of the great race as his time was only beaten by the veteran Jamie Whincup, who went around the 6.2km circuit in 2:05.4263. McLaughlin will be looking to keep up his outstanding showing at this event much like Whincup will. Interestingly Craig Loundes will start from quite a way back today, but look for him to advance to the front end of the pack
Holden Garth Tander could not beat his mark and neither could Scott Pye in a Ford.
For the New Zealand Super Black Racing car of Chris Pither and Richie Stanaway, plus Andre Heimgartner in the Lucas Dumbrell Holden, Saturday was just a day to prepare for the big race as both missed the Top 10 Shootout, finishing 12th and 25th in qualifying respectively.
