The character of Batman is my favorite comic book hero, but it’s a little bit done.

Robert Pattinson is being paid 3 million dollars for Batman 2022.

Michael Keaton was paid 5 million for Batman 89 “11 million today”
Christian Bale was paid 10 million for Batman Begins.
Ben Affleck was paid 10 million for Batman vs Superman.

3 million seems like a lot, but was curious why Robert Pattinson who is a pretty big was getting paid so much less.

And for more comparison.

Pattinson made 2 million dollars for the first Twilight movie.
Final 2 films, he made 12.5 million each on.

Wanted to see what happened in the 10 years since Twilight happened and also how Batman might have changed also.

Robert Pattinson

He’s worked every year since Twilight, but his movies are a little different.

Good Time-4 million dollar box office
Maps to the Stars-4 million dollar box office
Life-1.2 million dollar box office
The Lighthouse-18 million dollars
Waiting for the Barbarians-$750,000

He has done a lot of movies and some with really solid reviews, but all were smaller indie films.

In 2020, he re-entered larger budget projects, but that was with Christopher Nolan’s Tenet & Devil All the Time on Netflix.

Both he wasn’t the main character in and had to step back for other actors.

Sort of a recovery for avoiding larger movies for years and the Batman getting a salary cut is likely part of the reason.

Next up, Batman.

The Batman isn’t rated yet, but most people believe it’s going to be rated R, like Joker and is the lowest budget Batman movie ever adjusted for inflation.

It looks really good, but rated R superhero movies are still seen as a risk.

Hugh Jackman took a 10 million dollar pay cut on Logan.
Ryan Reynolds took a pay cut to make profit on Deadpool.
Joaquin Phoenix made 4 million for Joker, which in comparison, Jack Nicholson made 50 million in 1989 money for a PG13 film.

The Batman is likely rated R and that means salary cuts are going to happen.

On top of that, Batman might have some people afraid is over saturated and won’t make money.

Batman v Superman underperformed.
Justice League lost 100 million.

And the amount of Batman content is insane.

I wrote this list a year ago, but the amount of Batman related worlds or projects in the last 10 years.

  • Dark Knight/Nolanverse
  • DCEU
  • Jokerverse
  • Lego Batman
  • Gotham
  • The CW series
  • Krypton on sci-fi
  • Titans
  • Alfred series
  • A mountain of direct to video Batman films.
  • The Arkham game saga

That’s not even all of them, but the list is about 18 different storylines were made with their own Bruce Wayne in that universe.

I actually think Robert Pattinson will be a better Batman than Affleck & Keaton, but due to his career and Batman as a whole, he won’t make the Iron Man money.
