Lake Hillier is a saline lake on the edge of Middle Island, the largest of the islands and islets that make up the Recherche Archipelago in the Goldfields-Esperance region, off the south coast of Western Australia. It is particularly notable for its pink colour.
Area: 15 ha
Location: Goldfields-Esperance, Western Australia
Did you know: The lake is about 600 meters long, and is surrounded by a rim of sand and dense woodland of paperbark and eucalyptus trees.
That's amazing. I guess there must be something growing in the lake to give it its pink colour. I wonder if it looks pink when you're up close, or if you need to be looking at a large amount of the water to pick up the pink hue.
