Summers are the best season for only those who live in Northern Hemisphere of the globe, urging for sun baths and natural source of Vitamin D. But summers are considered as a horrible time of the year for people who fear sunburns and unwanted tan. Your skin is very sensitive and prone to severe environmental conditions. It requires extensive care and proper sun protection to maintain its health and beauty.

Now, the question here is how to cover your skin from the harmful UV radiations that can cause skin damage. Also, in severe cases, excessive sun exposure can result in skin cancer. In order to keep your skin sun-protected and damage-free, follow this simple yet effective guide we are here to help you out with.

  • First of all, get a fine SPF (Sun Protection Factor) sunscreen that suits your skin type. SPF is basically an estimation factor of how long a sunblock can cover your skin from the UV radiations. Sun Balm Broad Spectrum SPF 15 is fine but SPF 30 is more effective because it covers 97% of UV radiations attacking your skin. You can also get a broad spectrum sunscreen which is quite known for its extensive protection properties.

  • Never forget to apply a sunblock before leaving your home. Even if you are going out for a short period of time, you need sun protection because a mere exposure to sun radiations can give you sunburn, however, it depends upon the sensitivity level of your skin.

  • People usually apply small amounts and do not cover the exposed area properly, due to which they fail to get the required results. So, apply a thick layer of sunscreen cream over your skin and try not to leave even an inch behind.

  • Do not believe in durability of waterproof sunscreens. Excessive sweating or getting in contact with water, let’ say for a swim, can wipe out the sunscreen protector. So, don’t forget to reapply the sunblock after every 40 to 80 minutes, while in contact with water.

  • Try to avoid going out during the time period of 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. because it’s the peak time of intense sun radiations. Also, wear clothes that cover maximum areas of your skin.

  • In case, you get sunburned, instead of panicking, immediately apply moisturizers or anti-inflammatory creams on the affected areas. Cool baths can also be effective treatment for sunburns.

  • Don’t trust those sunscreen products claiming to be formulated using natural herbs and organic materials. Always go for a children-friendly sunscreen that contains Ecamsule, Zinc Oxide and Avobenzone.

These are few tips and guidelines that you can follow to protect your skin from severe sun radiations. Other than these, there are so many ways to get sun-protected but it is only possible to a limited extent. It is a harsh reality that people usually don’t buy, but, nobody can get a complete skin protection. So, one should try to stay shaded during the peak hours of sun radiations.
