Beer Review: Guinness Africa Special

in beer •  7 years ago

Wow, I never thought like I would actually do this. I mean, I just like having my beer and keep my mount shut but yesterday being workers' day, I decided to take my work to Ess-lah Gardens to have some cool time. I have never done a beer review before but when the barman served me with a different kind of Guinness and the taste was so cool, I had to order for another bottle so I can take some shots and share my thoughts about it with you guys. So I present you, Guinness stout: Africa special. I had heard for over three years now that Guinness have a stout made specifically for Africa, but I haven't had it before.

About Guinness Africa Special

This is the bottle, it comes in a 450ml amber bottle with a 5%volume alcohol. What makes it different from the normal Guinness stout is that it contains lots of herbs which makes it crisp and full of African flavour. In addition to barley, sorghum and other main ingredients for a beer, it contains Ginger, vanilla, Kola nut, lemon grass and chilli. These combined to give it the special herbal taste that it has.

In A Glass

On a normal day, any beer of this bottle size, I usually enjoy them without a glass. But for the sake of these review I had to pour it into a glass.

The drink itself is very dark in colour, and gave a good foam which quickly disappear. Looking at the ingredients, the addition of hop & foam stabilizers explained why the foam quickly cool off - that's a good one.

The Taste

I had to resist the temptation to pour the glass down my throat in one gulp - the beer was damn cold and the weather stood steady at over 44'. I took a slow gulp to savor in the taste,

The cold liquid ran down my tongue sending its bitter taste through the sensitive tissues in my tongue to my brain,

Woo, that was so so good. It had the crisp taste of herbal mixture. The flavors are good and I would give anything to have this baby one more time.

So here is my review.

Bitterness - 4/5 (it cannot compare to Turbo king)

Taste - 4.7/5

Flavour - 5/5

Alcohol content 3.5/5(I think stout should not have anything below 6% alcohol by volume)

Bottle presentation - 4.5/5 {nice bottle but the paper wrap peeled of on refrigerating}

So overall, I'll give it a score of 4.6/5.

Kpam, that is it on Guinness Africa special. I think I have discovered a new toy to play with. I'm not planning to do any beer review anytime soon except I get to have something really awesome like this one. If you have taken this baby before, please share your experience with us.

DRINK RESPONSIBLY, I ALWAYS ADVISED MODERATION IN EVERYTHING.

I shared a bottle with my dad before I left home on one of those cool evenings, Guiness Stout is actually my dad's brand. I only adopt it when we go out together. But I really like the paper design that comes with this brand, it looks so beautiful and colorful.

It's heartbreaking for me that you're taking this baby alone. You must have really had a blast with it yesterday. Well done

This touched the very depth of my heart d makes me missed my dad the more. I remember the days we had beer together, very short only about twice or three times. I missed the deep father to son talk, the friend to friend smile. I have travelled so far and so long, I just hope to visit home soon.

As bitter as Guinness may taste it strikes me as the perfect beer in Nigeria. Go Guinness. It's the only beer I enjoy.

In English they say, bitter sweet. That's why I love Guinness, the bitter taste.

Hahahahaha, well we all have what gives us the buzz. It's really popular in the market just that I never asked for it until on Tuesday.

Lol😂😂😂😂..
The facial expressions you made when the beer tasted your tongue got me laughing.

Thou I have never tasted a beer before in my life.. because I heard it's bitter, and am like why should I drink something that is bitter as if it was sweet. Maybe someday I would try it..
I just pray I have the mind to do so 😁.

Hahahaha, don't be pressure to do so. And don't allow peer pressure so make you wanna drink but when you want to, you can always take yourself out and try it.

About beer being bitter, well maybe bitter is the new sweet brother.

Lol😂😂..
Okay bro thanks.

Interesante bebida que usted describe la mezcla de sabores que fácilmente para nuestro clima oriental en donde vivo y el calor nos atrapa a diario, seria una muy buena opción, se ve que la disfruto de punta a punta.
