Cheeky Monkey are a brewery based in the Margaret River region of Western Australia, and area more famous for their wine, although they do have a number of great micro breweries, including Cheeky Monkey, obviously, Eagle Bay and Bootleg.
We don't see a huge amount of their beers in Victoria, so it was pleasing to see this beer are my canvent day 18 beer. It is a very festive Merry Berry Gose, which I've paired with a fruit mince tart, as is my want.
It's Is an odd colour, quite light, a little bit pink. The smells is funky with a a bit of a sting in it which hit you if you inhale deeply. The taste is unexpected, it quite full in the mouth, silky even. Its not hugely berry infused and the taste doesn't tend to linger. It interesting but I wanted it to be either more tart or more Berry sweetness, the balance of this works against it.
Can't go wrong with microbrews!
