Ship infested with tree-killing bugs ordered to leave New Orleans to avoid 'incalculable damage'

If left uncontrolled, Cerambycids and other invasive wood-boring beetles could cause more than $100 billion in damage to the U.S. economy, according to the Agriculture Department.

Interesting article about a little beetle causing a lot of trouble on a ship bound for New Orleans. It's a good thing that the beetle didn't make it to the swamps of South Louisiana, those trees already have enough damage from salt water intrusion, they can't handle anymore. I'm surprised that the beetle was found on the ship, I didn't think that customs was looking for anything but drugs, lol, good work to the men and women who spotted them. I'd be curious to know what in South Louisiana might eat the beetle.....
