War, Famine, Plague, Pestilence ...
Somehow we know we've heard this before...
As I said in a previous post, we are in the midst of a Civil War. We are also at the dawn of a world war.
If we don't re-learn to live as communities instead of armies, we will have nothing left but ashes. The Earth knows when to cleanse itself and it cleanses itself with fire! Before the ashes there comes a divide...

- Color
- Gender

It is difficult to accept what unites us ...
We all live on this little blue marble together. We must all breath clean air and eat wholesome food if we wish to survive. We all need clean water to drink. War, famine, pestilence and plague kills us all equally.
Why should it matter if Adam and Steve want to be married? What does the color of my skin or the God I follow have to do with the color of yours or the God you follow?
Often, I hear the argument, "I want my children to grow up 'right'."
My children are Christian, I am Universalist. These are different faiths with different beliefs. Both my children and I believe that a person should be free to live the ideals s/he chooses to live so long as they don't force those ideals on another.
We are not so different. LIVES MATTER ... BLACK, BROWN, RED, WHITE, YELLOW, ALL LIVES MATTER. When we celebrate and share life, we stop focusing on being better. Without the hate we come together as a stronger and more fruitful people.

Governments are categorized under politics. The fault in a "people's government" is that no government can represent all people in a way they consider fair and equitable. The fault in a government without the people is that it only controls the people under it.
Every system but one is faulted. The one system without faults is a system where everyone gives freely and accepts graciously. Unfortunately such a system may be outside of our nature as humans.

If they would just stick to that; then a crime would be a crime, and not a 1,000 mile long list of do's and don't's etc. etc.
a Crime as originally stated, and Understood - is conducted when you damage or harm another person or their property..
We are now so far removed from what an actual crime is and what is currently stated as a crime in the dictionary..

I guess the argument comes in when we try to assign one person's rights and liberties a greater value than another's, or when we impose upon one group the requirements another group chose for themselves.
If we truly protect the rights and liberties of all people, no person would be permitted to impose upon any other any involuntary restriction of liberty. The only crimes, as you said, would be those with victims and the only people who should be able to bring charges for such crimes are the victims themselves or the extended victims (family and friends) of those harmed.

I think it best fits my belief. I identify with a creative "God" that is part of all things. Because it is part of all things it is easy for me to respect the myriad of differences.

I had the choice growing up, so I studied occult and Christianity. I decided I liked aspects of both (even though they aren't compatible on the face) so I developed a more Universal approach for myself. I also give my children the choice. Currently, they choose to go to church and learn Christianity, but they also like to learn the wheel of the year and other practices and their meanings.
