A message to Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton supporters regarding our future

I know many will not agree with this article but it is from my heart and it is meant for both Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton supporters. If you are for Donald Trump being President of the United States then this article is not for you and feel free to move on. If you are a Bernie Sanders supporter who is going to vote for Donald Trump to make some sort of point, I wish you would not but feel free to do so and move on. For those of you still with me I think we have the common goal of making sure Donald Trump is not President. We chose different candidates and have some different opinions but we have the same hope of making this country a better place and making sure President Trump does not happen.

I for one am a diehard Bernie Sanders supporter but I personally refuse to waste my vote on a candidate that has no chance of winning in order to make some sort of a point and risk making Donald Trump the next President. So I'm left with making the choice of voting for Hillary Clinton or no one at all. In the meantime I watch social media and see Bernie Sanders' supporters and Hillary Clinton supporters making fun of and attacking each other which is getting us nowhere. Most of us really don't know one another and we don't mean what we say to or about each other. So what is happening here is we are all just venting our frustrations and taking it out on each other.

The Sanders supporters are venting because our candidate didn't win, whether you agree or not there were accusations of election fraud, they feel railroaded by the DNC, they are not happy with Clinton's Vice President choice, the email leak happened and then Clinton placed Stein on her campaign (honorary position or not...what are you honoring?). Because of this the Sanders supporters feel like Clinton and the DNC have spit in their and Sanders' faces. What I ask of the Clinton supporters is to put the shoe on the other foot and imagine if the above happened to Clinton. Ask yourself how upset you would be and would you need time to vent before moving on.

To the Clinton supports I want to explain that the Sanders supporters are venting because this all just blew up in a very short period of time. Please Clinton supporters stop attacking the Sanders' supporters and calling the immature names like Bernie Babies etc. I believe that once the Sanders' supporters have time to vent cooler heads will prevail and they will realize that they do not want a Trump Presidency. I believe a lot of them will do what needs to be done. Believe me many Sanders supporters are truly amazing people who are just very frustrated. But what you are doing with the name calling and attacks is making them feel unwelcome. When they calm down they are not going to go where they feel unwelcomed and they will not help in the battle against Trump. They will end up going somewhere else with their votes and please believe me, the other parties including the Republicans are trying to round them up as you read this.

Now for my fellow Sanders supporters. This will upset some of you but right now I am leaning towards voting for Clinton barring any further email leaks ect. My reasoning is I trust and believe in Bernie Sanders. Sanders worked very hard for us even after the point where he realized he could not win this election. He held out as long as possible to get almost all of his demands accepted in exchange for our help in defeating Trump. Remember this was after he realized he could not win the election. He took part in designing the plan and is going to help throughout a potential Clinton Presidency. I do not think he is a sell out, he realized he could not win, realized Trump cannot be President and made sure to get almost everything he wanted anyway. In my opinion that is a very smart man. Listen it is four short years and at that point anything can happen. Possibly even another chance of making Bernie Sanders the President of our country. In the mean time if Clinton wins, we get most of what we wanted in a Sanders Presidency and Sanders will be taking an active part in it. That sounds much better to me than four years of Trump. I for one do not want to let all of Sanders' hard work to go to waste and I am not willing to throw it away to make some point right now. There are battles to be fought down the road, this is not an election to mess around with. We trusted Sanders during the campaign and I believe we should give him the benefit of the doubt and trust him now. Also realize that the Clinton supporters that are attacking you are doing so because they are afraid of a Trump Presidency. They feel we are making this horrible risk possible and are venting as well.

So I at this point am leaning towards taking the high road, working together and defeating Trump. We will get through these four short years and go back to war at that point if need be. I'm hoping some of, if not a lot of you, once you vent and get it all out of your system, will join me. Thank you.
