Never do this - only the dead are fed. I will spit in your face and you want me nevertheless.
The photo is part of an art installation I stage-managed and photographed in an old forest. It has its roots in the Japanese dance form of butoh. We started the performance in an abandoned old laundry and went on to a forest which is known for its diversity of deer and boar. All photos were made with my old lumix camera, I dearly loved.
The butoh dancers are all painted white as a connection to their afterlife and their life cycles before. The white colour erasures on the one hand their personality, but on the other side adds expression to their mimic and movement. The ritual of painting your body and face away helps a great deal in concentrating on the forthcoming performance. For me it is also a help to let go of the mundane world and embody every single movement of my body.
It's also my first use of this great new app @bescouted - i am amazed!
