Hate Spending A Hour On The Treadmill?\
Hate Spending Days In The Gym?
Funny thing is by spending more time in the gym and resting less you are suprisingly hurting yourself more than helping yourself. Unfortunately getting in better shape is an area where alot of the research you will do will take you down the wrong path. I remember working out in high school for football and wrestling, and I was following workouts in Arnold Schwarzenegger's Encyclopedia Of Bodybuilding... If You have ever read this book ALL of the workouts last longer than 2 hours and you are working out 6 days a week!!! When one of the best physiques of all time says it works it has to work right? More On that later.
The Miracle Cardio Workout
My cardio for football was some sprinting which I felt was awesome for additional strength and endurance, I was also doing 5 days a week on the treadmill at a 15.0 incline at a 4.0 speed... I was dropping fat pretty easy however I was plateau'd at 195 for a good 3 years and could break away, not bad at 5 foot 10, but being that I was finding my love for weight lifting around this time to I really wanted to pack on a little more lean muscle since I felt the cardio I was doing was good, however I WANTED BETTER!
Around 2001, I started working at a gym where I met a personal trainer who was also a competitive bodybuilder, and I talked to him about my situation. I was a college student at the time making $9.50 a hour so I couldn't afford a top tier trainer but he gave me a workout that to this day I have followed to a tee when I want to lean up:
30 seconds sprint
2:00 minutes walk or jog
repeat for 6 cycles
THAT'S IT!!! After word I did a 2 minute cool down walk to bring down my heard rate and you are all done. A few tips for anybody looking to lose weight:
-Start this workout at a 30 second run, 2-3 minute walk for 4 cycles, keep in mind, I was a amateur wrestler and football player that started playing sports at 6, and started lifting weights at 13. My past history makes it east for me to start a intense workout... If you've never done anything as such please start easy!
-This type of cardio is best on an elliptical or treadmill if you are doing it at a gym.
-Don't do high intensity cardio for consecutive days, 2-3 days a week will be ideal. Any more than that you will be overtraining yourself.
If you can hack it do this fasted, or sipping an amino aciddrink during your cardio. My recommendations are Optimum Nutritions Amino Energy if you like caffeine, or without caffeine trying BSN's Amino X, or Sciavation's Xtend, if you prefer no stimulants, you could also do this after you are done working out.
Take in a good clean protein source for that first meal if you can, be it tuna, salmon, eggs, chicken, steak for your first meal, with a quality carb be it rice, baked potato, sweet potato, for your fuel. If you are in a pinch you can also get yourself a good protein supplement. 1 scoop afterwards is ideal, if you'd like to add carbs blend it up with a banana.
Give This a try and let me know how it works for you. New to Steem, as a platform so any pointers let me know. Thanks for reading and I will be back with more content soon!
