Part 2.
The Bezant Team
As more blockchain projects build teams, the demand for experienced blockchain talent has surged. There is demand but only a small supply of experienced candidates. The world of Cyrptocurrency is an extremely competitive space and one of the things investors look for is the calibre of the team. This is one of the strongest aspects of the Bezant project; their team is nothing short of spectacular. Attempting to become a leader in borderless payments, the Bezant leaders must have had an excellent head hunter as the team is filled with proven professionals from the likes of Kakao, Naver, eBay Korea, Yahoo!, KPMG, Dayli Financial, Smilegate, Goldman Sachs and many other large successful corporations.
The Bezant project has 60 staff with 40 of those fully focused on Product and Technical Development. We will break down the team structure by looking at the Leaders, Development Team and Advisors within the Bezant project.
Leaders
Steve Tay - Foundation Director
Steve has a broad spectrum of managerial experience in the gaming industry, primarily focused in the South East Asia region. Steve was directly involved in the operation, planning, and execution process to ensure revenue targets were delivered and profit maximized. He has interest in applying blockchain and cryptocurrency to gaming.
Daesik Kim - Chief Cryptocurrency Officer
Dae-sik Kim is the founder and former CEO of Bithumb, the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange with a daily trading volume of over US$6 Bil. (as of January 13, 2018). Mr. Kim has moved on from the day-to-day operations of Bithumb to work on product development of the JEHMI platform and Bezant protocol.
Mark Yu - Chief Product Officer
Mark has more than 15 years of managerial experience in various areas of the internet-based web and mobile services and e-commerce most notably in Kakao Corp, the largest mobile platform in Korea, and eBay Korea. He will be joining Bezant as Chief Product Officer, overseeing the project's technical strategy.
Chan Joon Kim - CEO of Jehmi
Chan Joon (CJ) Kim has 19 years of experience working in online and mobile gaming sector. CJ has held a CEO positions at Game & Company, Dyson Interactive, Gorilla Banana Entertainment. He has extensive experience in investments, publishing, and operations of multiple game studios.
Ray Cho - Chief Financial Officer
Ray has over 20 years of experience in financial investments including working at one of the leading Korean venture capital firm in Korea Investment Partners. His areas of expertise range from: principal investments, equities sales trading, fund management, and venture. Ray’s has had a strong focus on online and mobile game development and platform investments including Neople, and Webzen.
Ji Kim - VP, Corporate Operations
Ji Kim has extensive experience in corporate, international tax, and intellectual property laws. She was a corporate counsel at Xsolla, a global video game software distributor. Before Joining Xsolla, her practice focused on the representation of international companies with a particular emphasis on intellectual property protection.
Keunil Wang - Chief Service Officer
Keunil brings Bezant a wealth of experience in cryptocurrency and also cryptocurrency exchanges. His experience not only includes being a CEO at Coinbin and Korbot, but also CIO at Bithumb, one of the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange. Bringing his expertise in cryptocurrency, he will join Bezant as Chief Service Officer.
Oh Thongsrinoon - Chief Strategic Officer / CMO
Serial technoprenuer and digital native, Oh’s infatuation with the idea of how technology can disrupt traditional business started in 1996. His professional journey includes being part of numerous successful as well as some failed start-ups. Namedrop time; EarthLink, LAUNCH (Yahoo!), POPidols, Sanook, MIGME, DMP, Grab, Edge Asia and WebTVAsia.
Julian Migura - Advisor
Julian has an extensive business development background in the gaming industry where he closed and developed hundred of partnerships from around the globe including Valve, EA, Ubisoft, Riot Games, Smilegate, Perfect World, LevelUp, Webzen, and Netease. He joins the Bezant team as Chief Business Officer.
Technical Development Team
Colin Lee - Chief Technology Officer
Colin was a Director at Kakao Corp. and the Project Lead for the Company’s payment platform development. Colin was the project lead and architect for Kakao Choco (virtual coin for digital goods payment), Kakao Bank Wallet, digital goods payment platform, Kakao Pay payment platform, Kakao commerce platform, et al.
Jeyce Jung - Lead Developer
Jeyce was Lead Software Developer at Kakao Pay in charge of the Fraud Protection System and DevOps. Jeyce joined Kakao Pay from Kakao Corp. where he was a Senior Software Developer responsible for the commerce platform. Jeyce has also worked at NHN Entertainment as a Developer working on that Company’s commerce platform focused on digital content and entertainment.
Noah Hwang - Product Manager
Noah was a Product and Business Development Manager at Kakao Corp. in Manila, Philippines (PH) where he was responsible for negotiating with PH major media companies to partner in mobile contents curation services. Noah also worked as a Product Manager for Kakao Corp. in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, where he was part of a task-force team for Kakao Talk’s market entry strategy; Noah led negotiations and partnerships with government-affiliated telcos.
Jay Pang - Senior Software Architect
Jay was a Data Architect working on the Company’s commerce platform at Kakao Corp. Prior to Kakao, Jay was a Technical Lead/Data Architect at Coupang, Korea’s largest e-commerce site with 28 million users. Jay spent most of his career at eBay Korea as Senior Software Engineer/Hadoop, Data Engineer where he responsible for auction-based personalization service, customer purchases and settlement history analysis, category/catalogue automatic matching, image hosting, and web statistics.
Kevin Park - Senior Developer
Before joining, Kevin was working on the BNK System. He was responsible for private push service through MQTT and external EDI service used by Busan Bank. Also, KLNET was responsible for large-capacity logistics EDI services and DevOps, which were reported to the Korea Customs Service, Port Authority, and Japan Port Authority.
Lisa Shin - Senior Product Manager
Lisa has a breadth of experience in the gaming industry as a game producer. Before joining she was a game designer and project manager at Carboneyed. Lisa was also one of the lead game producers at GREE Korea, producing several global games. Prior to GREE Korea, she was the Product Manager from NEXON.com, one of the largest gaming companies in the world, where she managed and oversaw the game portal site.
Sally Mun - Senior Product Manager
Sally has diverse experience in the digital advertising field. Before joining, Sally was an advertising and sales project manager at Kakao Corp. where she was in charge of the overall strategy of implementing advertising tools such as display ad, message ad, and mobile items in Kakao plus friends. Prior to Kakao, she worked in digital advertising at renown companies such as YAHOO Korea and SK Planet.
Judy Song - Senior Developer
Judy brings to the table her experience in building billing and payment platforms. She was a senior developer on the billing platform development at Kakao Corp where she developed several systems that increased billing and accounting efficiency. Before joining Kakao, she was a software developer eBay where she developed various backend systems for payments.
Leo Shin - Senior Developer
Leo was a software engineer at Kakao Corps, before joining the team. During his work there, Leo was part of the development team for Kakao Talk and Kakaostory. He specifically in charge of developing Kakao's open API for Android and client development. He joins the team as an Android software developer.
Jace Seo - Senior Developer
Jace has experience in developing e-commerce systems and contents service systems. Before joining, Jace was a software developer at Kakao where he was in charge of developing the functions of the e-commerce system from ordering, delivery, and product management.
Ian Jeon - Senior Developer
Ian has in-depth experience in developing payment and settlement platforms. Before joining, he was a software developer on the KAKAO payment platform, developing revenue and settlement systems and transaction confirmation, verification, and proof systems.
Martin Bok - Developer
Before joining the team, Martin worked at KCC I&C where he was a software developer in the SI Solutions development group. He was part of the Ministry of National Defense's project for the implementation of integration system for logistics development where he designed and developed systems for property management of the military.
Kriss Kim - Developer
Kriss has various experience in developing IT solutions and developing service related systems. He was the assistant manager at KCC Information and Communications where he was in charge of IT service management and Customer Relationship Management. He joins the team as a software developer.
Aren Hun - Developer
Before joining the team, Aren spent a bulk of his time as an Android software developer. His previous work background includes Kakaotalk, Retrica, and Red Duck. In all of his projects, he specialized in developing software and applications for Android compatible devices. He joins as an Android software developer.
Eric Youn - Community Manager
Eric has diverse experience as a Creative Director, Marketer, and Social Media Manager in startup communities in Korea. He helped create interactive content and social media campaigns using visual media that boosted the brand image and engagement. With this unique experience, he joins the team as Community Manager.
Advisors
Tyler Kim - VP of Global Partnerships
Tyler has 18 years of experience in business development in the game industry focused on game operations, development of global portal and content for online publishing. Before co-founding JEHMI, Tyler was the VP Asia, for Xsolla* responsible for the Company’s global payments business vertical into new areas of digital goods. Prior to Xsolla, Tyler has worked with leading game-related companies in the senior business development and publishing roles.
Luke Shim - Head of Financing
Luke is a Canadian provincial government representative responsible for investment attraction and trade promotion across multiple sectors with a focus on digital entertainment, ICT, wireless, and financial investments. Luke has also worked in cross-border M&A financial advisory at KPMG focused on deal origination, execution, and valuation. He joined KPMG from KERR Asset Management (AUM of US$ 1Bil.) as the head of alternative investments where he focused in deal structuring across multiple alternative investment asset classes.
SangYoung Park - Founder of Dayli Financial Group
Sangyoung has in-depth expertise in the finance sector; he is currently the Founder of the Dayli Financial Group, Korea's largest fintech specializing in innovative finance that includes blockchain based technology and artificial intelligence. The major brands under the Dayli Financial Group are Quarterback, theloop(the blockchain of ICON), and a cryptocurrency exchange Coinone.
Shizuya Nakamoto - Director, Market Operations Asia Activision
Shizuya Nakamoto has extensive experience in senior management, strategy formulation, consulting, and international business development in the online gaming industry, IT, and internet related fields. He is currently the Director of Operations for Blizzard Activision overseeing operations in Asia. With his diverse experience, he joins to advise the team on the market strategies targeting the Asian market.
James Hursthouse - Advisor
James is a seasoned interactive and game technology entrepreneur, currently consulting with a select number of companies and organizations across mobile, mixed reality, infrastructure, and blockchain. James has built an extensive network of contacts in the global online game development, publishing, and technology sectors. James was formerly CEO at Roadhouse Interactive, an independent game company focusing on mobile free-to-play games and VR.
Jae-min Byun - CFA, CPA Advisor
Jae-min is equipped with an MBA at a top level business school INSEAD and diverse experience in renown financial firms such as KPMG and Bain Consulting.
Chris Suh - Advisor
Chris has six years of experience in Finance and Capital Management in the Royal Bank of Canada and also ten years at Goldman Sachs in liquidity and treasury. He is currently an advisor at Telcoin.
