"To the pure all things are pure", 1 Titus 1:15. What does it mean? Exegesis, understanding and commentary of the bible verse.

Paul in his letter to Titus teaches us to see good in all things: "To the pure all things are pure", 1 Titus 1:15. Paul also explains that we judge according to our own measure.

The pure judge according to his purity and the perverse according to his perversion:
"To the pure all things are pure, but tho those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good", 1 Titus 15-16.
Paul is telling us that good and evil are a basic choice and that choice is manifested in our perception, our judgments and our actions. That's why we talk about discernments, we all discern.
The pure is uplifting, progressive, just, benevolent, evolutionary, protects life and helps it to evolve. The wicked is unjust, destructive, chaotic, involutive.
We need the inner teacher to judge correctly the things of god: "But you are not to be called Master, for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not called anyone on earth "father", for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Messiah", Matthew 23:8-10
The spirit is the inner teacher: "But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time, you will be given what to say, for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you" Matthew 10:19-20
The concept of soul appears late in the bible and there are few mentions in the new testament, the spirit in the bible is the grace that moves everything, the source of life, and the origin of what moves men towards God and his bliss.
Paul asks us to see creation with the eyes of God, with his eternal wisdom and intelligence. As the parable of the sower says (Matthew 13, Mark 4, Luke 8), God puts his seed, his spirit, but men the ground. God's wisdom can only grow where the ground is suitable. We choose between the flesh and the spirit, "No one can serve two masters", Matthew 6:24.
