" Logically considered, freedom and equality are mutually exclusive, just as society and the individual are mutually exclusive."
-Thomas Mann
Where freedom exists equality won't, and vice versa.
EQUAL'ITY, noun
- The same degree of dignity or claims; as the equality of men in the scale of being;
FREE'DOM, noun
- A state of exemption from the power or control of another; liberty; exemption from slavery, servitude or confinement.
I would argue that where one finds more freedom exists one will find less equality, and to the extent equality is enforced freedom is restricted. I also would argue that one is only free insomuch as one knows The Truth, God's Word.
"Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free".
-John 8:31-32
Later on in verse 36 of this same chapter our Lord says ..."If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed".
-John 8:36
Ultimately. freedom is freedom from sin and it consequences I.e. eternal death, on the other hand humanity is free to believe and receive what God has made available.
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.".
-John 3:16
I am sure That all humanity is not made, formed, or created equal, I will also state that all who see this post have a free and equal opportunity to read and believe The Words of truth and consequently reap its benefits!
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." -Romans 10:9
"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house". -Acts 16:31
I would like to freely and equally encourage all how have the opportunity to consider deeply the Words of God...To receive and believe them.
