At the time of bidding on buildawhale my post was over $3.


You have that bot in your top 5 you said yes? well here is the result.

  • Transfer 7.382 SBD to buildawhale
  • buildawhale upvote @deliberator/investing-in-steemit-or-not (5.45%)

The upvote was a measly $9.50 taking the post to $13, in the past it would have been more like $15, taking the post/article to $18.50, I am also white listed with them, which in theory means even higher returns, though in practice means nothing.

Now this is the part where you would have to ask a bot owner questions for answers, like how much does a bot need tweaking when sbd is up or down, what is the % upvote based on, is it based on sbd being valued at $1 USA or?


Experience.

Now as a past user of these, I have noted that regardless of sbd going up or down, nobody ever tweaks the code in them, so if sbd is depressed like now, the vote value is also, and if sbd rises high, the same thing applies. This I may suggest, is where people get frustrated. A high upvote based on sbd being worth $3 US or more, compared to a low upvote on it being worth under $2 like now, does not compare so well, and leads to frustration. Someone will undoubtedly come along and say you are getting more in steem power and liquid steem, though that is "today" and not when a post ends in 7 days, as nobody to my knowledge can see 7 days ahead, except for supposed "remote viewers" though I think we can leave them for a conspiracy post for now.

If we take the upvote as $9.50 and remove the 25% is it curation? $7.125 is the value of the upvote, meaning I made a loss on sbd.

    Hi, firstly it depends on what ROI that bidding round finished at - if it was slightly negative then that would account for the slight loss.
    Also, most bids are made in SBD, hence a 7 SBD bid when it was worth $2 would have been a bid of $14 and an upvote, assuming zero ROI of about $18.60. Today, it would be a $7 bid and, again assuming zero ROI, an upvote of about $9.30. So your figures make sense - just not profitable :-(

    I tried it via steem also last night, it also was a total loss, so bidbots are just not worth it now full stop.

      Yes I did another test, and buildawhale sucks...

      On my new account using bots for two weeks, I have a rep of 55, 272 followers, and about $50 more in my wallet than I put in, so I may be dirtier than jerry banfield, but i am still ahead

            I'm gonna sit back, and have some popcorn, and see what sift/the other name I cant bring to mind...
            After my foray a few months ago, I was left with a distinct 'unhappy' feeling about them..

                So far my worst payout is -2% and best is +18% with an average of about +12% - in a few days I'll have a spreadsheet, but this is as confusing as hell!

                It will all change as the value of Steem gets fucked over...

                I'd rather get $50 for my posts from actual voters, but now I'm reduced to aiming for $15 from bots and $5 from voters - on my other account I'll stay clean but on this one I'm as dirty as killary klinton...

                      I think the consensus among the owners is that you losing money better justifies their claim to being advertising, but they booted me from their discord so i cant say for sure.

                      Any rewards not voted to you by the community invalidates proof of support for your content.
                      I know first hand how hard it is getting noticed here, but it is what it is.
                      Vote selling is abuse, imo.
