The unsubstantiated rumors began after Amy Tarkanian, a former Nevada Republican Party Chairwoman, tweeted a tweet disparaging Joe Biden.
Amy stated in her post that the US President had a "bathroom accident" while visiting the Vatican.
With over 22k likes and 5.8k comments, the tweet has gotten a lot of attention on the internet.
Following the picture, the hashtags #PoopyPantsBiden and #Poopgate began trending on Twitter, adding to the nasty and false rumors.
Many others on Twitter, including MSNBC producer Kyle Griffin, debunked the rumors.
WHY DID BIDEN GO TO THE CATHEDRAL?
On October 29th, Biden paid a visit to Pope Francis at the Vatican, where they spoke for around 90 minutes.
According to accounts, the two presidents discussed climate change, the coronavirus pandemic, and migration.
Despite the fact that the event was recorded, no journalists were allowed to observe Biden and the Pope during their encounter, and media coverage was strictly limited.
Biden did remark that the meeting was "excellent" and that he and Pope Francis talked about "a lot of personal matters."
This is the fourth meeting between the two leaders, and it will take place in October.
