Become a Bioengineer

Bioengineering is set to be one of the largest industries.
While growth in the software industry is stagnating Biotech is growing.
Our online classes not only will teach you how Bioengineering works but give you the opportunity to do it hands-on with near 20 experiments shipped to you in our Bioengineering 101 class.

No experience required.

Bioengineering 102 is for those with some experience under their belt but want to dig deeper and learn to program DNA from scratch. This class will go teach you how to engineer DNA and how to get your engineered DNA synthesized and sequenced.

I know this won't be for everybody, but if you are still young and looking for adventure, I can hardly see a less explored area of expertise.

Who knows what you could create.

I am unsure if this is a scam or a joke.

The website sells a "online class" that teaches you how to be a lab tech.
As in, put a drop of chemical X into each of the petri dishes.

Lab-techs will always be needed.

However, Bioengineering is a dying industry.
Its days are numbered.

Everything thought in bioengineering today is completely false, 180° backwards. They don't even know what DNA does.

Certainly we know some of "what DNA does". We at least know it hangs out in the nuclei of eukaryotes.

Knowing where, is not knowing what.

And, i really mean that anyone who believes in KRISPER doesn't have any idea about DNA.
The best that anyone could say, is that KRISPER is like using an axe to do fine jewellery work.
My statement would be, "its like trying to use an axe to help a tree grow big and strong", just doesn't work.

Its like the disease (germ) model we believe in these days.
We believe the germs are the cause of disease, when they are only the intermediary.
If you look up Pasteur vs the other doctor he worked with (can't remember his name)
but Pasteur said, if we say that germs cause sickness, we can sell lots of medicine and make lots of money.
On his death bed, Pasteur said the other guy was right.

My friend, Imma be kind, and merely say that CRISPR actually works to achieve genetic changes in organisms that attain the intended results. It's not that genetics is a completely explored field. You can't just learn it by rote. The vast majority of the uses to which genetics can be put are yet to be understood. You are right that it's presently like using an axe to do fine detail work.

That doesn't mean it doesn't work. I have done cabinetry with a chainsaw. Sometimes all you need is crude understanding to achieve what you set out to do.

However, until the use of an axe is grasped better tools aren't possible - because the limitations of the axe aren't known, and what might be more desirable for specific purposes can't be conceived. The fact is that bioengineering is going to become the most transformative industry the world has ever known. It will affect you personally, if it already hasn't (protip: it has).

Just because understanding isn't complete doesn't mean it isn't valid.

"...understanding isn't complete..."

So true! One would expire forthwith holding their breath waiting for complete understanding in many arenas.

I'd rather tie the scattered scraps of understanding together into a rickety raft expecting the rocky and roaring white rapids of this world will beat it to bits than to forever sit on the shore or be shocked when my boat inevitably crumbles.

What appealed to me was the guy taking his freedom in his own hands and making this tech available to joe everyman.
I expect some enforcement action to occur at some point.
Should make a great train wreck.
It will be a test case of the ex post facto and bill of attainder provisions of the CONstitution.

If not, well, nature will have some more flourescent frogs and refrigerators.
Maybe some folks will emit light from the bacteria in their mouths.

Just out of curiosity, how do you expect people who understand how to do bioengineering can be regulated? Short of surveillance cameras in every room of every house, banning 3D printing, and basically burning biology books, I don't see how it can be done. The tools for sale on the-odin.com are specialty tools that make the tasks easier, but they're not necessary to make genetic changes to the genomes of living things.

Soon enough folks will just be able to print those specialty tools anyway. How will this enforcement be undertaken?

I didn't/don't expect efficient enforcement, just a train wreck.

It is very difficult to take freedom, much easier to trick people into surrendering it.

My initial reaction to this data was to suppress it, but then i remembered, freedom beats slavery, hands down, so no telling what can come from extending this data to others.
If i was in Vegas, I'd show up to their party.

I wouldn't count on it.
They don't like change.

Wealth is about to be measured in more than dollars and crap, imo.

It's already on my list.

And one of my best friends is studying genetics in an university. :)
