Goldcrest - One of the cutest birds here in Austria

in birdphotography •  4 years ago

During wintertime, you can find gold crests on several conifers here in Austria, and yesterday I went to a popular gingerbread store in "Bad Leonfelden" Upper Austria together with Stefan to fill up my stock of gingerbread. Of course, I took my camera with me and as you see we were lucky and took several nice pictures of birds once again. There was a Buteo flying above our head for several seconds, and we also found a stork that stays over winter in this region.

One of my favorite birds we saw during this trip was the Gold crest, it is such a tiny cute little bird you simply need to love it. :-) It was not so easy to take some pictures of it because it is pretty fast and very small, then also the light situation was not so good, so I had to use a fast ISO of 3200 and still had an exposure time of about 1/200 Seconds. Pretty difficult not to mess up the picture with too much shaking. It was not really flying but most of the time just jumping around between the branches of the conifer.
