Waterrail at the Inn River

in birdphotography •  4 years ago

Last weekend I was lucky and could take several pictures and videos of the Waterrail that I found at the Inn River. There were at least two of them running around in the mud and in the reed. The breeding habitat of the water rail is permanent wetland with still or slow-moving fresh or brackish water and dense, tall vegetation, which may include common reed. So the Wetlands of the Inn River are a very good habitat for this birds. But because they are very shy it is pretty hard to spot them.

I was also able to take a short video of this bird hiding in the reeds. You can find it at the bottom of this article.

My collection of pictures from different birds is growing and growing and I am happy that I could increase my number of different species once again. Wetlands of the different rivers here in Austria are great spots to find several seldom birds, and sometimes I am able to take some pictures of birds that I still don't have in my collection. When I have some time I want to make a overview of birds that I already took a picture of and birds that I still miss so I can plan my photography trips accordingly.
