The common redpoll (Acanthis flammea)

At the very end of autumn, when the first snow fell, these birds appeared in our forests. In the summer they are incredibly difficult to find, this is due to the fact that they live mainly in taiga forests, where there are many coniferous trees. By the way, they are close relatives of siskins, which also gravitate to coniferous trees. With the onset of cold weather, these birds begin to roam. And they can be found in all types of forests.
I met a large flock in our mixed forest. They flew along the tops of birches and ate birch seeds. Sometimes, these birds are lowered to eat seeds that have fallen or thawed in the spring from snow. They also love wormwood. Very easily attracted to the sound, just a few seconds, as they are interested to fly in and look for a "friend".
