Is Bitcoin and Alcoins really decentralised?
The genius of Cryptocurrency is to give us the financial freedom of transacting peer-to-peer without any third party (no banks, no IRS or coin exchage). Digital currencies set out to take the role of ledger-keeping away from centralised financial institutions and placing it in the hands of autonomous network of computers. This is what Satoshi Nakamoto intended when he released his paper on cryptocurrency and this had always been the case from the very beginning. Things started changing with the popularity of coin exchanges. With these exchanges, we are getting more and more detached from the main goal of Bitcoin which is built on returning the control of money to its owners. Instead we now trust third parties with our Bitcoin daily services. Exchanges like coinbase are taking us back to the age of centralised institutions. Just few weeks ago IRS won the right to instruct Coinbase (one of the biggest exchanges) to submit the list of all its users for tax purposes.
Decentralised Exchanges: Solving the re-centralisation problem of Cryptocurrency
The birth of decentralised exchanges where wallet would be under one's control even when transacting or trading will get us back our freedom of decentralised digital currencies. Decentralized exchanges would be a solution to the problem of centralized exchanges and their vulnerabilities of getting hacked (like the MtGox's case), bad actors stealing funds, and so on.
This solution has now become a reality with the release of NVO decentralised exchange which is currently in it's ICO stage and hopes to be launched in the next few day. Watch out for NVO decentralised exchange. It's going to be quite phenomenal
