As we all know that the trend of investing in cryptocurrencies is increasing day by day as a result of bitcoin's price going up.
On the other hand it could become main target for cyber criminals.
In the past multiple cryptocurrency exchanges have been hacked and thousands of bitcoins theft, if we compare this amount with today it would be millions of dollars.
Since bitcoin transactions are irreversible, if any of your holdings were to leave your wallet, you won't simply be able to get a refund.
Luckily there are some steps we can take to protect our bitcoin.
Cyber security experts says that you can store cryptocurrencies on a cold wallet, it's mean to store them offline.
If you buy bitcoin through an online exchange and want to store them there, then you are at risk. If the exchange hacked the currency you owned could be stolen.
Bitcoin holders are advised that don't store their money on services. Users should store it offline and take care of their private keys themselves.
The most easiest and safest way to store our bitcoin is to use offline wallets which are not connected to a computer like USB or external Hard drive.
The other way is writing it out on a piece of paper could actually offer better protection as long as it is stored in a safe place.
If a user was to lose it however they won't be able to access their bitcoin either. You should use strong passwords to access these wallets and if you do plan to use a hardware wallet be sure to actively monitor security research to determine if it is as secure you think, it is when you purchased the item.
What is your point of view about cyber crimes? Have you ever been victim of cyber crime? Have you any more suggestions to improve our cyber security?
