Recently announced Antminer R4 is coming soon to a home near you. If you have tried bitcoin mining and are currently doing so, you would know that the cost to mine bitcoin from home is not really profitable. The cost of electricity to run a mining machine and the computing speed does not make it worth doing it from home.

Mining used to be profitable for miners but ever since the bitcoin network expanded and large business started to build huge mining farms, all the profit went to the big farms and cloud mining services.

The Antminer R4 uses the first 16nm chip for powerful bitcoin mining. Here are some of the specs:

Now When I fist saw the picture, like some you will think, "it looks different." It is a different design from what they have been using with their S series miners. They decided to use a custom designed fan to cool the mining machine with the goal of reducing the noise that the Antminer produces. Anyone who has had an S series Antminer knows that those suckers are loud!

Bitmain is also releasing a new power supply to go along with this miner.

Now this Power supply can run on 220v and 110v. You will have no problem if you're running it in North American since previous power supplies never worked for those areas that run on 110v. The wattage output is 2600w for 220v, 1300w for 110v. They really focused on the noise reduction with their new products and this power supply has a dynamically controlled fan. The fan will only run at full speed when the heat sink temperature is above 80 degrees Celsius.

  • Are you a bitcoin miner?
  • What do you think about this?
  • Will this bring bitcoin mining back into homes?

Thanks for the heads-up. What's the estimated hashpower?

Did you really read it?... It says 8.6th/s in the post...

Okay; I missed it. Funny: I looked twice at the spec list and didn't see it right at the top. Thanks.

Np. Thanks for taking the time and commenting on my post!

What a power sucking beast! Not really bringing it home at that cost!
