While i agree with you that a lot of cryptocurrencies will die due to their lack of use or too much competitors in their area, i think you took a quiet bad example for that.
Sure the ones you mentioned ( Peercoin, Namecoin, Feathercoin etc...) lost their positions in the top ranking of coinmarketcap due to other currencies growing faster, but they are not dead.
In fact they even grew x-times from what their value was back then.
Sure right now they are way back in the field and may never rise again, but when i put a thousand bucks there in 2013 which are now worth 10k bucks i wouldn´t complain about that at all ;)
