Over the past few days the bitcoin hash rate has jumped approximately 30%
This is often associated with a price breakout.
Another possibility is that a hard fork is imminent. Rumors are circulating that miners who are against BIP 148 are using their hash rate to influence the activation of Segwit2x. This was not supposed to start until the end of the month but perhaps they decided to begin a bit early.
As we all know the price of steem typically follows that of bitcoin. Make sure to pay close attention to this one guys!
