Emil Oldenburg, one of the founders of one of the leading bitcoin information sites, bitcoin.com, and Safello, a Swedish exchange, made poignant statements this week.
After publicly announcing that he has sold absolutely all of his bitcoins units, Emil said that the virtual currency is useless, having no real future in the market, while encouraging those who were willing to do as he did and get rid of his criptomoedas while the boat still has not sank.
What Emil Oldenburg's say about Bitcoin:
"I would say that currently, investments in bitcoins are the most risky thing you can do. They are extremely high risk."
"I actually sold all my bitcoins and replaced them with bitcoin cash (BCH)."
"When people understand how Bitcoin works, they will start selling their currencies."
"Enthusiasts see bitcoins as virtual gold and a technical experience, which is the opposite of something that really has a purpose."
However, some say that it is nothing more than a Swedish marketing move to promote a new digital currency, Bitcoin retelling, Bitcoin Cash, or BCH.
Emil Oldenburg's opinion seems to merge with the chorus of two Nobel laureates in economics, Robert J. Shiller (2013) and Joseph Stiglitz (2001). For Stiglitz, cryptocurrency as a whole are such a significant threat to the mainstream economy that they should be banned by governments of all nations. Already for Shiller, enthusiasm over the high values
hit by the bitcoins will lead humanity to experience an economic crisis similar to that which occurred in 1929 during the Great Depression.
And now Jose? Would bitcoin be a great farce and smart are those who have not fallen for the easy money tale? Or is cryptocurrency still a great hope for financial abuses, especially in countries like Brazil that suffers from a corrupt banking elite and a government unable to return high taxes as quality public services?
