I don't want to build a network for just people like you and me. The implication of Metcalfe's Law is that we want absolutely everyone on the network, because the value increases exponentially with each new user.

    You are right, that is not what I want either. Maybe I don't know how best to address users who do get butthurt's feelings. We have a lot to learn going forward.
