I bought some BTC using Western Union today, don't ask me why I was bothering with them, I wouldn't use them if I could avoid it. But the WU transaction went through quicker than the BTC one.
I'm not going to weigh-in on the to SegWit or not debate, but I will say with certainty, if the network speed isn't improved it's going to influence the long-term acceptability of this coin. I used LTC the other day, the transaction was processed in seconds and the fee was 0.16%.
