you say "there's no safe exchange" because the exchange or your account on the exchange could be hacked. What about the BitShares exchange where the account has a private key that only you hold? that seems much safer to me than all the other exchanges that are run on central servers with very slim possibility of hacks considering they'd have to steal your private key from you somehow.
