How do I pick a Bitcoin Wallet?

Hello fellow Steemians! I’ve learned a little about cryptocurrency and I’ve decided it’s time to get a Bitcoin wallet (I'm not leaving Steemit, just trying to diversify). I’m still very new to this and I don’t want to rush in and make the wrong choice so I figured I would put the question to the community.

Here’s what I want:
It should be free
It should be relatively safe
It should user-friendly

I can’t think of any other criteria right now. I don’t have lots of money to invest into Bitcoin but I’m preparing myself to put some art up for sale on OpenBazaar. Even if that doesn’t work out, I might earn a few satoshis from a faucet or something. I'd appreciate suggestions (and I’m sorry if it takes me a while to respond).
